Hey everyone...I am attempting to set a procedure for Backing up critical computers running NT 4.0 using Ghost 2003. The best way that I can see to accomplish it is with a CD/RW but I have an internal Sony CRX100E loaded in the computer but can't get it to be recognized as a CD/RW...not sure if I need to since Ghost 2003 runs in a PC Dos virtual environment. Is there anyone that has run into this problem?

i am sorry in advance if this answer is not good enough, but i think hardly anyone comes here anymore. i do not use CD/RW on Windows NT, but the solution to your problem comes from hardware manufacturers. Is there any hardware manufacturer who makes CD/RW's that cn be run under dos or with Ghost 2003? This is what you need to research. i have heard there is some support for some CD/RW's and windows NT, but i cannot help specifically.

Ghost 2003 is designed to do backups on CD-R or DVD-+R so use that method. Just make the Ghost boot floppy set (DOS) and boot from that then burn CD's (or make image files) with the ghost command. Might want to study the available switches for ghost.exe, especially spanning. If the data on the drive is over about 1 GB then multiple CD-R's will be needed.

Thanks for the response....my issue here is not with Ghost 2003...I think that is pretty straight forward...I just need to get a Sony CD/RW to run from the virtual drive dos window that comes up when you run Ghost from the boot diskette. I have tried differenct drives, and Win NT recognizes them, but for some reason I can't write to the CD's even from within NT. I am going to keep working on it today.

Thanks for the response...check out my response to jubalsams. Still at it...but I am close to thinking that I have a hardware problem....
