hi. running nt4 server, sp6A. i can't install files like: setup.exe from third party softwares like NAV or AVG. all for NT server edition. they won't go to the "install shield" part. like the self extracting winzip, it just stops opening after extracting the file, and doesnt proceed to the installation process. the task manager shows 100% CPU performance and slows down the system. any help. TIA.

try coming up in vga mode and see if you can run setup. If so its something being loaded like antivirus or even perhaps a virus.
When was the last time you defragged the drive? Fragmentation is deadly to NT.

Hi,
1.Update all the microsoft security patch for windows nt server. 2.100% cpu usage must be because of virus (find it remove it) 3.Start the windows installer service. (if its already started ,stop & restart it again) 4.increase the paging file size.
