While working on my join domain problem (see other post)I discovered the following problem. I have a WinNT4.0 SP4 Domain Controller and a Win2000Server SP3 computer on the same network, both attached to the same HP 10/100 switch. I can ping from the Win2000Server to the WinNT4.0Server by both IP address and by name. However, when pinging from the WinNT4.0Server to the Win2000Server, I can only ping by IP address, and NOT by name. What gives? Any help greatly appreciated.

This means that your NT4 machine isn't capable of resolving names or isn't reaching the machine that does that task, like a WINS server (Windows Internet Name Service). If your network is configured to have WINS servers, then check if the NT4 has them configured.
