Comment:
I work at a manufacturing facility. One of the machines is running NT4.0. I want to uninstall Norton AV 2002 and install a more recent AV program that supports NT4 (I've chosed AVGPro).
Trouble is, I cannot log in as administrator. This computer is connected to the network, but there is no DC. The software/whatever the company who set up the machine did something so that there is no log on screen, and when I try logging out, it logs me right back on as the same non-administrator user, with no prompts.
+Someone has set Auto Logon in the registry. To unset it try loading REGEDT32 from the RUN screen, select REGISTRY, Select Computer, and when it loads the HK Local Machine on that computer, go to SOFTWARE, WINDOWS, CURRENT VERSION, WINLOGON and you can edit the autologon entry. Typically in the registry a ZERO means NO & a ONE means YES. Failing that download a NT Admin password cracker & boot from that. You could also try holding down the shift key just before you get into the system & see if it offers you a log in screen, you might be lucky! Regards. Bob Mitchell.
