Changed from hosting over T1 and using that as web connection to cable modem. Lan is 2 computer network of NT 4.0 servers. Cable modem was initially connected to smaller system, 128M Thinkpad. Connection through cable modem was sluggish but worked for 6 hours. Tried to add firewall/router and have not been able to connect to internet since, with or without firewall. Have turned off cable modem for several minutes before trying connection directly to Thinkpad but Thinkpad still can not find internet or ping anything. (Other computer does work through router and cable modem so believe that problem is with Thinkpad).
Took machine home and was able to connect to internet using different firewall/router and DSL connection WITHOUT ANY CHANGES TO NT machine -- just plugged into open port of a different 4-port router and it worked.
Back at office, Thinkpad can not find anything on internet but can find the other NT 4.0 server on the LAN and share files and zip drive. Process is repeatable. The Thinkpad can not find anything on internet through cable modem but other NT 4.0 computer on LAN has no problem.
Suggestions please.Configuration "Picture"

Thinkpad connection works with DSL and different firewallThinkpad connection fails as pictured
Thinkpad connection fails even with router removed

Simple fix to above was using command prompt
ipconfig /release
then
ipconfig /renewNow Thinkpad works properly with either type of broadband connection.
