Hello all,
I have a good question I need answered. Well, first of all I have this problem. I cant get connected to my ISP. I have done so many different things to try but its just not happening. But here is where I stand right now : I have installed NT Workstation on a 2 gig partition and have my modem (US Robotics 56k FaxModem, brand spanking new). I install all the RAS stuff and modem when I was installing NT (you know, check here if you are using a modem to connect to a network). Well, my modem using COM2/IRQ3. I disabled it in the bios so the modem could use it. But getting back to my problem...I run Dial-Up Networking and set it up for my ISP, I have done this a million times with Windows 9.x machines, but when it dials it goes through the dialing process and then says "Verifing User/Password" but then it gives me an error and its reads as follows : (Error:629 The Port was disconnected by the remote machine) Whats going on here? Am I doing something wrong? I dont think its a COM port problem persay because It does actually dial and you here the tone and everything. Thanks for the help guys!
-Chase

If its a new install, is it possible that
the TCP/IP stack is not installed yet? or fully configured ...Ive been caught out that
way before...

I had what sounds like the same problem; this might work :
Open Dial-up Networking, then clone the phonebook entry you're trying to use. Try using the clone; if it works, delete the original phonebook entry.
