Can't change NT password from workstation.

Comment:
I have an NT4.0 Server running TCP/IP with Win98 workstations. When I mark a user to change their password at the next login, they get the message that the password has expired but it won't allow them to change it. After they enter the old password and the new one and press OK, they get a message that says 'Can't change password, access denied.' Has anyone ever had this problem?

I have yes. I make sure to check that the TCP/IP protocol is the default protocol on machines such as this.

Also sometimes users in large LANs had problems with users unable to change their passwords. We deleted and recreated user PROFILES (not nessecerily user names and passes) and then they were able to change their passwords.this may and or may not be your answer.

Had the same problem............. Easily fixed though. In user manager select account from the policies menu and click to deselect the "users must log in to change password" box. Sorted.

I have kind of this problem. After shut down Domain Server for 6 Hours( Bilding was out of power for construction) Turn on next morning, and found strange problem- about 30% of people can't use they password to logon to domain. Even after I reset manually for each one it's take about 5-7 minutes to let client login to Network. Next morning about 10% of this people had the same problem. Any idea, why Server can't keep the passwords?
P.S. All function disable in Accaunt page- .Passwrod never expire .Don't keep history .No lock out .No force to disconect
