I have two sites connect by a Cisco router. Both sites running NT 4.0. I can ping all computers over each side of the router. Problem: I can't see anything in Network neighborhood. I can't login to a domain across the router. I can't create a trust across the router. BASICALLY, NO NT FUNCTIONALITY ACROSS THE ROUTER. Help? Ideas? Thanks!

there are some technet documents on browsing issues but i don't have them on me right now. but if you did a search on the microsoft technet support site under browsing you should be able to find them. can you ping the machines on the other side of the router by their machine names and/or do you have wins working on the wan link ? to get the other machines to show-up in network neighborhood i think that a (netbios broadcast ) port on the router has to be opened up to allow that browser/broadcast traffic thru. of course that will give you more traffic on the subnets or segments. otherwise i think that you may be able to manually add the machine names and IP addresses to the lmhosts file on each machine and that may work. did you configure the router ?? is it just using tcp/ip ?? there may be some more configurations to be made to the cisco router. i think that you can also configure the router with host info that will resolve domain names. if you can ping a machine by its machine name across the router then you should also be able to do a find/computer then drag that icon to the network neighborhood to create a shortcut. hope this helps

Setup WINS on both servers and specify IP adresses for all servers and NT domains. Then you'll be able to setup trusted relationships. Good luck

...I had this problem, and only a few machines on the other end on the routers, no servers or ntwk. I loaded lmhosts files on the server and each client. Check the sample file loaded on your NT pc. You may need to do some digging on the ms site for the proper sequence and wording, but it works.
