Folks,

I setup an NT 4 Workstation machine to use DHCP. The machine can browse the network and can access the resources on the LAN including a Win2k system running Terminal services. I also enabled GCSN and NWLink so that the machine can access the Novell servers. Everything works fine except that I can't access the Internet. I can't ping the DHCP server or the Default Gateway. I can't ping any Internet address (ie www.microsoft.com). I removed the TCP/IP stack and re-installed it, but still can't browse the Internet. Any thoughts or ideas? Thanks in advance.

when you do a ipconfig is the gateway listed?

I would not do nwlink. simply install the latest novell client downloaded from novell's site. This could be your issue. It could be a binding order issue.

Ipconfig does not show the gateway or the DHCP server.

Did you remember to upgrade the internet
browser? The default one that comes with NT4
doesn't work at all , cant resolve any addresses,
cant load any pages...(well, it never did for me).
IE 3.02 is an absolute minimum ,although
netscape 3X still performs outstandingly,and is a
quick easy install, not taking much time or
resources,so you can quickly verify whether the
problem's resolved...just remember to turn off JS
before the first page even loads (stop loading the
initial page, then network prefs,JS off)
The behavior of the default IE in NT4 is more that
of a browser on a system without any , or with a
bad, net connection , so it's not immediately
obvious that it's only the browser (at least it
wasn't to me, between three card IP resets, and
two tcp-ip reinstalls...)

Still no luck! I installed IE6 and the latest Novell client for NT, but can't access the Internet. I have no problem browsing/accessing resources on the LAN, but not the Internet. I changed the IP address to a static one, and that worked fine (browse the net and the LAN), but when I changed it back to use DHCP, I can't browse or ping the net. I can't even ping the DHCP server or the gateway. When I ping the gateway or the DHCP server, I get this response "Destination host is unreachable." Any thoughts or ideas?
