This is probably the same problem as Marc Monte` posted on the 1/25/99.

Have run the pnp, installed AWENT40 from creative...Blaa Blaa Blaa. Have even reinstalled NT40 WKSTN.

Basically PNP is detected but the SB AWE 64 ISA card is not detected at all. If I tey and install the driver from Control Panel/Multimedia...I get to the stage to specify the port which is normally Port 220. On selecting this it says that the port is already being used. The other port up to 280 give the same message when selected.

There was one suggestion in Marc's suggestion and that was to reinstall NT4 without the drivers. How does one do that at installation stage?

Help, Silence is a killer!

Nick,
I had the same problem recently. I don't think it has anything to do with the drivers. The way I fixed the problem - it turns out that I have a legacy SCSI card (Adaptec AHA-1510 ...) which was working fine but conflicting with the PCI IRQ-allocation since the BIOS was not instructed to reserve an IRQ for the SCSI-card. As soon as I went into BIOS Setup and made the necessary adjustments, everything fell into place and the AWE 64 drivers got installed just fine. I'm not sure if your machine config is something like mine. If it is, try this. If not, good luck !!
