NT server 4.0 (which is on a bual-boot with Win98, with no problems thus far): I keep getting this, according to Event Viewer:

The 3Com 3C59x Bus Master Adapter Driver service failed to start due to the following error:
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

What do I do?

I had the same problem. The funny thing was that my NIC was the 3com 3c905b, and not the 3c59x. I'm not sure what sequence of events made the error occur, but what happens is that the 3c59x "service" is loading automatically. You can go to the control panel and under services, you can change this service to disabled. The error should go away.
Good Luck!
