Seems to occur after using my modem (SupraMax 56i Voice PCI). I'm on NT Workstation 4.0 SP5.
After rebooting, this is in my event log:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0xfcaf8f00, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xfcaf8f00). Microsoft Windows NT [v15.1381]. A full dump was not saved. It seems to have started a couple weeks ago, and I don't think I've installed anything new.
Anyone with any ideas?
Thanks,
Dan

When booting , choose the last good know configuration.
If it boot properly remove the RAS
and reboot.
I got this problem before whith a french version of NT sp5 and whit the same modem
This problem stop whit the english version
but I think that you already have it !.So try to change your RAS for a new version !!! in order to use your modem.

I have this problem too with NT4 SP6 and my Diamond Supra 2560. It seems to be the PCI driver for the modem but I haven't found a solution yet. If any of you do, could you please email me
Thanks
Lurb

I have a customer having this same problem, and they have an AOpen 56K PCI Modem, which uses the same driver file (winacpci.sys). I am going to install an ISA modem and see if I can eliminate the problem. I'll post another message here if it works.

I have encountered just the same problem, the infamous BoD appears right after or while I am using my modem. I asked support from my computer supplier and they told me to reinstall the modem driver it didn't work. I own an Aztech Modem. The way of stopping this from happenig is to shut down the win ac pci service manually. Any one have an idea? please email me

I also have this problem. I have NT4.0 and
a Creative Modem Blaster. So it seems that this problem is on several different PCI modems. Must be an NT issue. Anybody???Thanks

Yep, this is happening to me as well. NT4, SP5. After using the modem, a BSoD follows shortly. WinAcPci.sys is always at the top of the list on the blue screen. My modem is a Creative Modem Blaster, which uses the Rockwell chipset. Could it be that we all have the Rockwell chipset in our various modems?
I'll try shutting the service manually, but it sure would be nice to fix this right.

I am having this same exact problem with both NT Workstations I support that have the Aopen 56K PCI modems. One is the FM56p and the other is the FM56PM. I get the exact scenario portrayed above. However, at home I have NT Workstation 4.0 SP5 and have an Aopen FM56H and don't have a bit of trouble.

I have the same problem with NT40 SP5 using an internal Rockwell HCF 56K Data Fax PCI Modem HCF02C7.NT4.INF(COM3)

Thank for your help

I have te same problem with NT4 SP6 using an internal SupraExpress 56i SP LT (ISA) modem. Any Ideas?

I was wondering if anyone has found a solution to this problem. Mine sounds very similar, we have a Compaq Server running NT4(SP6) Small Business Server 4.5. We have an internal SupraExpress 56i and external SupraExpress 56. It happens about once every 4-5 days, at differant time (when there is no one using the modem for example).

If the modem has jumpers, try setting it to use a resource you know is available. Check NT diags, if IRQ 3 or 4 is free then set the jumpers to match that port. If your modem prefers a specific port, you'll need to disable it on BIOS/CMOS. After you boot up, before installing drivers, check ports on PC, if your port is listed, NT recognises your modem, otherwise add the port manually then 'use the setup program to install the modem drivers NOT via control panel'.
[On Creative modems] adding "AT&F" to "Extra settings" in "Advance connection settings" should set the modem to factory hardware flow controls. After loading drivers test your modem with HyperTerminal.
