Help!!!!!!
I installed a cd buring software call cd creator onto my server (os windows NT 4.0)
upon reboot I get this stop error message. I repeatedly rebooted the system and it never went away. I suspect the install is the culprit and I don't know how to get out of this jam. It's like the commercial: "Hello, hello, I've fallen and I can't get up!"

What system requirements were described with the Roxio software?

Their website says: "Supports Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows Me (Millennium Edition)"

Fortunately you've got that button to press and your grandchildren will spring for the hip replacement(s).

This is one of those situations where you most likely will not be able to reboot yor computer.

Do you have an Emergency Repair Disk (ERD)?

I don't advise anybody to use unlicensed software, and this situation is a perfect example of why. If you don't have the installation CD for Windows NT, you should be making arrangements with the OS mortician.

But someone who is so foresighted as to buy an emergency pager is prepared for worse case scenarios.

You will need to treat your system as if you were doing a fresh install, but you'll reach a screen where NT asks you if you want to (R)epair a damaged system. Read the user's manual if you can find it. If you can't find it, I highly recommend that you buy a book like Using Windows NT Workstation, published by Que. Of course if you have backup software, you should be able to use it at some time during the reinstall.

Sorry about your hips. Try to keep your sense of humor, despite the untimeliness of your system crash.

Try the "Last known good configuration" option at boot (before the blue screen)

Give me the EXACT string on the blue screen. I don't need everything in the columns, just the STOP 0x0000000 (and the three of four other OCT. of numbers) as well as what the STOP message is. (Basically the top 25% to 33% above the columns of registers). If you have NTFS, you will have to do a parallel install of NT to fix the original. (Unless you have NTFSDOS). If you have FAT, a DOS boot disc (Win 9x startup disc) will work fine. And was the software Easy CD Creator? or some other bogus software?

I had the same problem. I ended up having to reinstall win2k on top of itself. good news is everything came back fine. Windows SP1 had to be reinstalled even though it was installed. I didn't know adaptec had done it at the time though so I screwed up my system again. I was able to find info on http://www.cdrinfo.com/tips/cdr_and_win2k.shtml for uninstalling easy in Win2k. But now my computer has a blue screen whenever it is shutting down and I'm still trying to fix it right now. anyone having the same probs I'd like to hear from. thanks
