BIG Wordpad file can't be opened anymore

I had to use wordpad to create a screenshot documentation of an application (because MS-Word wasn't installed).
I could easily save the document as i was working on it, but now i have this 34 Megabyte Wordpard (.doc) file and i can't open it anymore. Wordpad just freezes when it's trying to open it, i suppose that the filesize is too big.
Is there any way to open big .doc files? Word can't open it, wordpad just freezes. I'm unsing WinNT 4 and i have 256 megs of ram so this shouldn't be a problem.
