I need to shut down and restart my Netfinity 3500 server running NT server 4. Can anyone recommend a good utility that can automatically shut down the system at a specified time and restart it. I can do this on mmyu As/400 and the system pages me with the mesage if the retart was Ok or otherwise.
I am continuously having a problem with echange running on this machine getting a message re: MTA connection. Technet suggests to restart the system to remedy this problem.

Hi,
I recommend to use the shutdown.exe contained in the RessourceKit. To shutdown the Machine at a specific time just use the Scheduler-Service of NT. to add a Job use at.exe at DOS-Prompt.

Twin,
Thanks for the help. I installed shutdown.exe, it is a nice utility to shutdown a PC remotely, but does not restart it automatically at a pre set time. I am sure there are more tools out there that should schedule an automatic shutdown/restart.
