Each Response has gotten me one step closer to solving this problem. So thankyou My computer came with Pine audio and video hardware on a Win95 operating system. I upgraded to 2000 NT and lost all sound and have blurry video. I have reformatted my hardrive and installed Win98. I still have no audio and my video is still only allowing me 16-colours. The system recognises my hardware as: OPTi Plug-n-Play MPU-401 OPTi Plug-n-Play Audio 16 OPTi Plug-n-Play Sound System
I check the installed drivers and the message says "the best driver windows has found is already installed" . I have used via Device Manager and have inserted both Win95 and Win98 CDROMS but still no sound, and crappy visual.
I am starting to think that the problem is somewhere else.
On system startup I get a message saying "Missing File (system.ini) C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\VMM32\VDDVGA.VXD. but even before this I had no SOUND, good quality visual.
