I know I shouldn't post this message here. But trust me, I tried at there site an I hate their support. Ok, here it goes. Sometime when I come in the morning and I get this message from my ARCServeIT : "Please mount blank media to continue backup". First I thought that it was because there is too much data for the tape but there is only 19 gigs to backup and the tape can contain 24 gigs.

Do you know what could be the possible cause for this ?

thank in advance

Normally, I'd say your correct. Too much Data, not enough tape.

Since your sure of the tape size, and this isn't a constant error.

Are you sure the tape is good ?

When you are using a media pool, the backup is looking for the next tape in the sequence or a blank tape. Each morning when I take out the tape from the night before, I put in the current day's tape, erase it and format it with the current day and it is ready to go. If you are using "Append" to the end of the tape then it could be full now. If you are not appending then you do need to erase the tape so it can write to the blank tape.

Is your tape capacity 24 Gb compressed. If so, that is assuming a 2:1 compression ratio. Your not getting that unless all your files are ascii text files. 19 Gb could very well be filling up for 24Gb tape, depending on how much the data is able to be compressed.

In the Device tab, right click on the tape device and set compression to DISABLE. If you are trying to compress the software using a 12/24 tape, you must disable hardware data compression.
