The question should be what is the difference between all 3. Windows 95 is not a true 32 bit op environment as it uses DOS file system (FAT) Windows 98 is as it uses (FAT 32) both of these are GUI's on top of a DOS operating system which was written using compiled Basic. NT is completely different as it is a client server operating system and uses a 'Virtual Op System' between the operating system and Binary Op System, NT was written using C++ this is more stable because all the programs being used communicate through this 'Virtual Op System' so if MS Word freezes and falls over it causes that programme to crash not the whole system. The other main difference is the file system known as NTFS, this allows differing access permisions to be used rather than passwords. This lends itself to Networking and systems management, thats why NT is realy only for business use and not for domestic use, Things like USB do not work on NT and a lot of games wont either
Simply stated the official Microsoft definition is:
"Microsoft Windows NT is designed as the most powerful operating system, where Microsoft Windows 95/98 is designed as the best desktop operating system."
Simplicity and uniformity is always the best answer.
