What is the difference of being Administrator, and having Admin rights in Windows NT/2000/XP?

Administrator is the default, built-in Administrator Account. (This should be renamed immediately upon accessing the OS for the first time.)

Having Admin rights just means that the user (local or Domain) has Administrative privileges on the local machine. I.E. his/her local/Domain account is part of the Administrator Group on the machine.
