Hi all.Can anyone help with this? I have an administrators account on our NT Server which i set up without any restrictions whatsoever but when i log on to the network using this account from my NT workstation and attempt to install printers or software on my workstation it says i need to be an administrator in order to continue.I can however install anything on any other machine using this account without problems. What can be wrong with my workstations installation?
Thanks Stevie_boy

You need to log onto the workstation itself as administrator (literaly) and edit the administrator group, adding your login to that group. Sounds like somone has already added your network administrator login to the administrator group on each of the other computers except for the one you are logging in now. Or possibly somone edited the administrator group on all the other workstations and added the "everyone, full control"??? Dont forget that just because your the network admin doesn't mean any workstation is going to do whatever you want. You have to be given the rights from each workstation to edit that workstations critical files. It would be wise to double check this info on all of your workstations for security's sake!

Thanks for your reply and i'm sorry if i appear thick but i don't fully understand.I have logged on to my NT Workstation as "Administrator" but when i go into User Manager i cannot view the properties of any user listed (even the guest account etc)Also under "File" the "New User" and "New Local Group" options are greyed out.Can you help any further with this please? I'd really appreciate it if you could cos there is obviously a big gap in my knowledge...

If you have your server setup as a Domain controller you should be able to log into any workstation as the domain admin with full privaleges. If you just have your server setup as a member server you will have to log into each individual computer as the local administrator. With the server setup as a Domain controller you still can log into each individual workstation as the local admin on the workstations domain as well. If any of this does not work be sure that your workstation is joined to the domain. You will also need to install the client tools to use User manager for Domains and not just User manager. Good Luck!!
