I need to add a Windows 2000 server to a domain. The domain controller is Windows NT 4. It worked before. Recently, I reset the security on the domain controller by following our company's policy. When I tried to add a new Windows 2000 server to the domain, I couldn't get it. From windows 2000 server, I joined it to the domain. After I enter the administrator's password, I always got logon failure, the error message I received is, "logon failure: unknown user name or bad password". I logon as administrator account.

And from the domain controller(NT), it can see all the work station(Windows 2K), such as do the mapping, but workstation can't see the domain controller(NT). I don't know how to fix it.

Anyone can help? Thanks.

I've had a similar instance adding a new NT server to a network. The workaround was to add the server to the domain via "server Manager" on the PDC and then join the new server to the domain.

Hope it helps
