add a printer not found

Suddenly, one machine lost all its printers, and even the add a printer icon is missing from the printers folder. This is on a NT40 network.
Has anyone ever encountered this? The RPC service is started. My only thought is corrupt dlls, but I don't know the entire list of dlls and services the print engine uses.
I would appeciate any assistance and ideas anyone has. thank you

I've heard of this happening before. All the user did was to reboot the PC and all the printers including the Add A Printer icon returned. Not sure if it would work for your issue but it's worth a try.

This is a not uncommon occurance. It has happened to me with NT and 95. It tends to occur when you encounter problems adding a printer or changing a print driver etc. reboot and your printers should reappear. if not contact Microsoft.
