hi When i browse through some websites i was prompted by the follownig message "This page provides potentially unsafe information to an active X control,your current security settings prohibits running controls in this manner , as a result this page cannot be displayed properly"

Are these sites that you trust? Be careful, you may allow something that you really don't want.
These directions will vary slightly based on your browser version.
You can modify your browser settings thru your Control Panel->Internet Options applet. Select the Security tab. Select the Custom Level button and carefully review your ActiveX settings. If you don't understand a setting, select contect help.
Be careful!! Don't open yourself up to a problem.

it has nothing to do with active x or your security settings. it means that you comcat.dll file is missing or corrupt. the easiest way to resolve this is to reinstall ie.
