Comment:

I'm running NT Server 4 SP6, and I'm using IIS 4. I just installed the FrontPage 2002 Server extensions and I'm getting weird results.

When I create a web in IIS, then try to configure the Server Extensions for that web, IE opens to the following address:

//ServerName:7184/fpadmdll.dll?page=newsrvr.htm&port=/LM/W3SVC/4&frport=
WebName

In this case, IE tells me "The page cannot be displayed"

When I installed the package, the extensions were added to the default web in IIS. However, similarly, when I try to "check" the server extensions for that web, IE opens to this address:

//ServerName/_vti_bin/_vti_adm/fpadmdll.dll?page=health.htm

...And IE tells me, "You are not authorized to view this page".

What the heck?! I'm using the administrator account on the server, what more permissions do I need?

What am I missing?!

Thanks for any help!

On NT Server use the Internet Service Manager for IIS to install FrontPage Extensions.

NOTE: If you use the Frontpages "publishing wizard" to install the extensions you might want to uninstall them because you have better control using IIS Service Manager!

1..[Console] > [ADD & REMOVE SNAPINS] > [Frontpage Extensions] Add the extensions if it is not already installed.

2.. Right click on the website that you want to install the extensions on and select [All Tasks] > [Configure Extensions]
