Subject: account locks (after p/w change)
OS: Windows NT
CPU/Ram: PIII
Comment:
we have a situation when a user is logged onto workstation, then logs onto another workstation, then their password changes. Then their account starts to get locked out every day, and the lockout occurs (source) is the first workstation they logged onto (i.e. logged on with their old password).

Anyone ever see this and know why it happends? A Technet reference would be great.

Thanks

Scott

Is this a problem? Not sure why you would want a user logged into multiple machines for long lengths of time.

Solution is either logout of all stations then change the password or don't routinely change passwords.

It happens because the user authenticated with the old password, and then changed the password. As Microsoft says "This behavior is by design."
