My prob is ,when I connected a laptop with 98 (previosly used in a different network) to my network which is a NT4 domain network, then the laptop simply did not login even if I configured it correctly in network properties. main mrob is even if I say ESC at login prompt then it does not go further, and keeps asking for a password.

Do you have an account for the computer set up on your server? Do you have the machine set up to authenticate (login) to the domain (by domain name?) Do you have a user name and password set up on the server that corresponds with the login you're using on your 98 machine? Are you entering the user name and password exactly as it is on the server?
If you answered no to any of those questions, that answers YOUR question. :)
