I'm having a bit of problems with networking an HP Deskjet 695C on an XP machine to an NT machine.
The craptacular drivers that I get from HP's site are useless for a networked printer. Does anybody know how I can get the printer connected to the NT machine?
Thanks

If the printer is connected to the XP PC you can offer additional drivers for non XP PC's, therefore negating the need for installing NT4 drivers:

btw what the heck are craptacular drivers ?

Craptacular: Sucks
That really doesn't help me. I forgot to mention, I've already tried finding a non-existant .INF file in the drivers that I downloaded from the HP site. If I run the install, will it overwrite the XP Drivers?

why would you install the nt drivers on xp? you wouldn't. just as you would not install the xp drivers on nt. Get the nt drivers for the printer and install them on NT

Again, the problem with the NT drivers from HP's site is that the drivers will only allow you too use the printer on the local machine (No INF file to download).
I can't find any settings in the printer menu to set it up to go to the network machine.

hey listen i dont know much but i got an idea u can try out, when u install the drivers on xp their is a setting in the printer settings (through control panel) that enables sharing over the network, then u can check a box and install secondary drivers on xp to work with nt this will not write over the xp drivers
Good luckThx in advance!!!

Kyle you are confusing print drivers and networking. Print drivers don't network. That's what you with the brains does.
Install the printer locally in NT using the NT driver. By default its set to lpt1. Don't do the cable test during the install as that just wastes time since it will fail. We just want the driver installed.
Once the driver is installed you have to make a new printer port. That's the add port in printer setup.
The port would be a network port and would be \\xpbox name\printshare name.
Once the port is made you go into the properties of the drive and change from lpt1 to the network port.
If not sure use Help and Support and lookup "add a network printer port"

It gives me a list of 4 things.
Digital Network Port
Lexmark DLC Network Port
Lexmark TCP/IP Port
Local PortNow, I tried to install the TCP/IP Port and it said something about "Badly formed Setup Script Command"
