I've been reading a lot of the threads on this board concerning the conflict with Zone Alarm 3 (free) and System Restore.

I'm having the same problem. My System restore is not automatically creating chech points. (I can still create them manually and they will also appear if i installnew software).

Is there any fix for this problem yet?

Does anyone know if the new version of ZA free (v4) fixes this?

Thanks.

zone alarm is weak, smart people can get past it with ease, I would just look for a better firewall all together. Plus, firewalls are just dang annoying anyway, unless your running a buisness, or are hidding top secret gov information, i would just forget about the firewall, and surf were there are no sharks.

Several people have posted lately that System Restore was not creating system check point automatically.

One cause may be if you have Zone Alarm ver. 3 installed on your computer.

Upgrading to current the free version of Zone Alarm (V4) should solve the problem.

You may have to reset your System Restore also.

First, disable it; Control panel > System > Performance > File System > disable system restore.
Then restart your computer.
Note: this will wipe out all old system check points.

Then go back to Control Panel and undo what you just did, (uncheck the disable System Restore box) and restart your computer again.

I'm not 100 % sure that this resetting of System Restore is necessary. I did it but you may want to try just the upgrade first.
