I suggest replacing the wuauboot.exe, you can find it on the windows ME disc, its in the Win_17.cab File. just extract or copy n paste into your windows folder, overwriting the other one. If you cant find the file ive posted it on my yahoo site, just go there pick a user name n stuff and its in the files folder. ok http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/UPALLNIGHTS/

You can try turning OFF Automatic Update;
Start\Settings\Control Panel\Automatic Updates\Turn OFF automatic updates.
