WUAUBOOT and WUAUCH Problems

Comment:
I am using Windows ME and keep getting a message saying "WUAUBOOT" has caused an unknow error. If this continues, restart your system." This is usually followed a few seconds later by a message saying "WUAUCH has caused an unknown error. If this continues, restart your system.
Everything seems to be working before and after these messages pop up. What if anything is happening in my computer? Is there something I need to change? In short, I don't where they come from, what they do when they are here, or where they go when they leave.

Go to Run->type"msconfig"-->click tab marked "start-up"--->find file marked "wuauboot.exe" and uncheck this file. Reboot the system and it should not look for this exe file. I am not positive about the "wuauboot.exe" being the auto updater but that sounds like a good guess to me. Hope this works for you and good luck
