OK, ran Word 97 & Avery Label Pro for years on old AMD K6-233 machine and WIN95, printer was an HP 710 inkjet. Ran flawlessly, not a glitch. Retired old machine, bought new AMD Athlon 800 mhz machine, came with Win ME. Installed Word 97 from the original program Office 97 CD, and Label Pro 3.0 from the original CD. Now I get an "hpfvls13 error" after every single print job with Word 97. Getting different error messages with Avery Label Pro. Nothing prints from anything without an error message at end of print job. Apparently hpfvls13 is a .exe file in Windows. Anybody know what's causing this? Any ideas, fixes, upgrades, suggestions???

What printer? Have you updated the drivers for me?

actually hpfvls13 is an HP file... notice how it starts with HP?

That being said... I looked up your printer model at HP's website. There isn't a 710 inkjet listed, but ther is a 710c Deskjet... and a 710 all-in-one model.

The 710c deskjet is using the same drivers for it as it did for 95/98. If this is your model you may want to remove the printer from start>>settings>>printers and reinstall the driver.

The 710 all-in-one has a 15mb update to get it working with ME. It is located at HP's site here. If this is your model please download the updated drivers and reinstall.

I also found a troubleshooting guide to GPF's at hp's site here. You might want to have a look.

I would suggest removing the printer and reinstalling the driver first though.

OK, this got interesting. Actually, the printer is a 712C, but all the 710 series should use the same drivers. I downloaded the driver update for WIN98 and the HP 710 series. I uninstalled the old printer driver, and installed the updated one. Didn't affect the problem. At HP's suggestion, I uninstalled the new update and re-installed the new drivers a second time. That worked! Apparently when you uninstall the old driver, it leaves behind some files that cause problems. If you uninstall twice, apparently uninstall gets the leftover files on the second run, and the new driver fixes the problem. Weird. Also, HP tells me that they're no longer supporting the 712C. This printer was manufactured exactly 24 months ago, and already HP has stopped support. That's BS. It should be good for a decade or more. My old Star Gemini 10X from 1985 still works fine.
