Comment:
I've got a Dell Dimension 8200 with Pentium4 1.7ghz and 256 ram. This afternoon, WinME didn't start until I rebooted the PC 4 times. I've already had one PC die on me and I don't want to lose this one. What is the number to Dell tech support? Also, this PC was a gift from my mother so that would complicate matters when I'm asked verification questions. I've got the Model and Order numbers but neither me nor my mom know the customer number. I emailed Dell for that number and they said to check the invoice(meaning if I don't have it then I'm SOL). Is there ANY way to get around that or to find the number?
It's been a while since I have bought anything from Dell, but I believe that the number that they look for is printed on a little label on the back of the tower. You should be able to go to the Dell Website and put that number in there and get the customer number they are looking for. But again, my information is a little dated, so I may be wrong.
Dell Tech support is 0870 908 0800. I know this number by heart!. I got a Dimension 8100(P4,1.3ghz,128MB,) as a gift from my mam. Took it out of the box...set it up...and ME froze after the first 30 seconds of my new computers life! After many phone-calls and 3 technicians calling to my house, I got a brand new computer delivered. But, my operating system continues to freeze on a regular basis. I get the "blue screen of death" very often and sometimes ME will not shut down! ME is defo the worst OS I have used. WIN98 was great I think. Your customer number is on your invoice. Well at least it was for me anyway. Good luck with the PC. Hope you get sorted out.
sorry, forgot to mention that that is the Tech number if u live in Ireland(like me). U dont say where u live so I just presumed it was Ireland. If u can find the manual named "Solutions Guide" that came with your computer, go to page 70(in my manual anyway). The list of all Dell Tech Supports are there. Depending on what country you live in you ring that number.
It must depend on the hardware , I have a IBM Netvista 933 mghz pc with 192 meg of ram and ME is the most stable microsoft OS I have used , I think I would blame your problem more on Dell . I never have to reboot with ME .
Ozzie, 1-800-624-9896 for Tech. Here's my suggsetion. When you dial that number, select options for SALES...get to SALES and give them the phone number of the home where the purchase was made. They can tell you your salesrep and give you his/her email address, etc.. He/she WILL have helpful information as you are in the system. They can do many things. What you need is your EXPRESS SERVICE CODE or: your SERVICE TAG number. One of these SHOULD be on the left side of your tower-top right corner. If you still are stuck -email me, I know I can get them to get your info to you somehow..I've had to deal with extraordinary circumstances with 3 new computers--two laptops and final 4100(now they have the 4200)BUT...believe me..THEY got busy.
Thanks for the input guys. I called the 1-800 number from response 5 and got my account info sorted out. Even better, I'm still eligible for a free XP upgrade=)
