DOESN'T WORK
I had shutdown problems with WIN98_SE, and fixed it using the steps linked to above, but now I've upgraded to WIN_ME, and I have the same problems, and nothing seems to work. I even have the WIN98 patch for the shutdown problem, but it won't install.

i had the same problem. it IS a problem with the sound blaster sound card on the same IRQ setting as an earthenet card. i am sure it conficts with other hard ware as well. i moved my sound card to another bay and it solved the problem. i want to thank the person who suggested this in another post. maybe you should be working for microsoft! its their OS and they dont have a clue.

i work for dell tech support, hundreds of people everyday haveing trouble with winMe shutdown. seems to be many issues with aol, and resource conflicts that havent been resolved yet by microsoft. there is a known aol bug that if u connect for more than 5 min to aol, the system will hang.

I have ME on my new 733 intel system, sound blaster sound card and VooDoo3 2000 16MB video card. But I have a very weird problem with ME. After I shutdown the system for 4 or 5 hours, the system will always turn back on by itself. I've tried a lot of method so far. Making sure that I have the newest driver, disable IRQ steering. But noting seems to work, please help.

I was also having a shutdown problem. I found by getting into the MSCONFIG program and disableing the VNETSUP.VXD file, I was able to make the problem go away. I've yet to see any errors occur because of this.
