Comment:
I got a playlist in my Media Player (WinME) with MP3 songs, why is it after it plays one song and when it goes to the next it displays a message 'sending request for codec'. What is this codec? I already have DivX installed. Why is requesting codec after every song?(if i am not on NET, it will not play the next song)
a codec is something that decodes the file so you can play it. when you're connected to internet it will be able to play it coz it can get codec information from the net. But when you're not online, it obviously can't, so what you need to do is actually download the suitable codec onto your computer. DivX is a codec, but not the right one by the sounds of it.
What is the file type you are play? are they all mp3?
Thanks for replying! I managed to solve this problem by going to tools options and unchecking the 'Automatic Codec Download'. But it still doesn't make sense because i had this option turned ON before. Yes, i am playing all MP3, i even downloaded the DivX codecs bundle....Don't know if my WMP is corrupted or not.
I have a similar problem. Even sequential movie files that I know I've the codec for attempts to download the codec. It claims that it "successfully" downloads the codec and plays but this is irritating to have to wait 5 secs before any movie plays. This problem occures about every alternate time I play a movie.
