Comment:

I recently installed Roxio Goback 3.1 on my Windows Me system. While restarting the computer to enable Goback, I received a Windows Protection Error. All the Protection Error says is System Halted. Restart Computer. I have tried installing the patch for Goback but this does not correct the problem. If Goback is disabled, my computer will boot normally. Anyone got any suggestions? Additional Computer Info Below. Thanks.

Hard Drive: Maxtor 40GB with 2 partitions: One has Ms-Dos 6.22 with a size of 1.5GB and the other has Windows Me with 35.7GB.

Windows has all the available updates from Microsoft.

Win ME has a GO BACK feature already.. SYSTEM RESTORE. I'm sure you already knew that.... but do you have to uninstall SYSTEM RESTORE first ?

When I installed GoBack, System Restore (in Windows Me) was disabled automatically.

From goback read me:

Dual booting

Dual booting is only supported for the following configuration:

- Only two operating systems are being installed and one
is Windows 9x/Me and the other is Windows NT 4.0/2000/XP.
- The Microsoft supplied boot manager is the only
boot manager.
- GoBack must be installed once for each operating system,
disabling (not uninstalling) GoBack between installs.

For the GoBack Electronic Software Download (ESD) you will
need to download the ESD product from within each operating
system for the installation to complete successfully.

For complete information on installing GoBack on a dual-boot
system, please visit our knowledgebase at www.goback.com.

BTW Goback puts system restore to shame.
