Has anyone had experience in going from WinMe down to Win98. As "Me" has so many problems, it seems like the easiest way to resolve most of them. How would I go about installing Win98 system. Computer number 1 is a PH pavilion xv799 with WinMe. Computer number 2 is a Dell dimension L700cx. Both have ethernet connectors and WinMe. Thanks

unless you told windows ME to keep a log of your old 98 settings (assuming ME is an upgrade), you cannot go doqn to 98 without a reformat. probably a good idea to do this anyway. i made the giant mistake of going to ME......reformated....back to 98 and very happy.

first thing to do is get all the drivers you need for 98 ,make note of all hardware installed -souncard, modem, network, video, so if you need the drivers you can find the right ones. http://www.windrivers.com/company.htm good place to go for drivers. and of course hp.com then when your ready start with bootdisk format c: choose cd-rom support after format change to cd-rom usually e: if only 1 harddrive and type setup ,press enter. some people have had to fdisk to choose large disk support and use a win 98 startdisk to do so, can get one here; http://jason-n3xt.org/dos/#OTHERDISKS
