Comment:
this afternoon, i was having trouble with a hard drive, and read on a post here that updating my BIOS might help. Well, i did this and everything went pear (i think).

now when i boot up, i get the usual screens and now a blue screen with the emblem Si on it, then the Win ME splash, then the monitor blacks out. the monitor's power button blinks in green, but my system boots up like regular. i have tried different monitors, and they are fine. i have tried different cards and it's not the card. since i did the BIOS deal, i am assuming it was this.

any help...most urgently

much

brian

i thought the hard drive i was fiddling with had more than 2G, and i followed a post trail that led to what to do if you get a reading lower than the drive's capacity. well, stupid me thought wrong, with the drive actually being a 2G variety, and needless in any system.

yes, i can get to BIOS. it's just a few seconds after the BIOS by Delete screen comes up that the monitor blacks out.

If your lucky you can remove your cmos battery with your system completely powered down and unplugged ,wait a few minutes put your cmos battery back in powerup and your bios will reset to default. If you have a motherboard manual for your computer it may tell you how to reset the bios by using jumpers.

I am not doubting your intelligence but, don't reboot with the bios flash still in the drive.

If you can enter bios at startup you should be able to set to default save changes and reboot.

I am not sure about a DOS based antivirus check.Maybe someone else will respond to that.I did not ask."Have you tried to boot with your system install disk and take that route"?
