Right after WinME boots it automatically goes to Standby mode multiple times (even after it wakes up), even though I have the power management settings all set to 'never'.
Also, the mouse is very erratic and sluggish at times. Right after a boot it will work fine for a minute or two and then it will not track or respond properly.
Any ideas?
TIA,
DD

Hi, sorry you are having the problem with ME. I had a mouser problem also after I installed ME and just looking around I found that when I went to the control panel under 'system' 'hardware''mouse' 'driver' I found that I could have the system search for another driver. I did let it search for one and what do you know ??? it found one that would work. I guess ME has a bunch of drivers with it that don't install automatically. I hope this helps you.

I solved our mouse problems by getting a new one. It's working fine (it's been a whole day now)
I am becoming less enchanted with ME the more I use it.

I'm having some really erratic mouse problems as well and no amount of stuffing around can get it working on one of my systems, SE worked perfectly.....I have degrees in electrical, electronics and programming so if I can't sort it !! ...Linux never gives me this type of grief ( just other types :) )

I reply with a message I have just posted to other people:
"The same as you. I have tried several mouses (logitech serial, ps/2, usb; genius serialm ps/2) in several computers (P-III, K6-2) with differents graphics cards (GeForce, S3/Dx) and all is the same.
With the original drivers from ME in the medium position os the speed bar, mouse goes OK. But when you try to speed it up it begins to "rebound" as I name this strange behaviour.
And with the drivers from logitech (and I have the latest that are done for ME as it is said by logitech: Mouseware 9.19) the "rebounds" are continuous in every speed and acceleration sattings. The only thing I can do is to move the mouse slowly.
And the worst of all is that in the Microsoft Web there is nothing about these problems. I think this is a very important bug in ME, don't you?"
By now I have no real solution. :-(

I have a similar problem. While standby does not cause me any grief as of yet, I have several mice that respond erratically whenever I move it quickly. This is so bad when I work, but if I play games...forget it. I cannot move at all really, Games usually require rapid mouse movements which cannot be done in this current condition. I laugh that Microsoft presented Win Millenium as some kind of answer to the home users multimedia needs. Lol! How so, when they cannot get the generic drivers right.
A good search a Microsoft Knowledge base showed that Microsoft "is aware" of the problem. The say, if you go to the mouse applet in the control panel, and make sure the movement speed is at level 5 or less, it should solve the problem. Maybe..for some one. Not for me. This problem is also appearing in win2000. A Fresh reinstall changed nothing.
If I find a better answer than McSoft has I'll post.

I have a problem with my Compaq PS2 style mouse. About every 4th or 5th time the computer comes out of standby, clicking the mouse has no effect. I can still move the mouse around, use the keyboard, etc... but clicking is not working. To correct the problem I have to restart (kinda defeats the purpose of standby...).
