Glammy,
To your point! The P4 is%%%%%%%%%
More expensive
Uses expensive RAM
Has no support for it's special instruction set--show me the P4 software.
In tests (WinBench) the P4 scores lower than AMD
Even Intel is dropping RIMM for DDR yet does not have a board yet.
$ for $ AMD is the best buy. MAC OS 10 will be the OS to beat and the NEW G4's come in 700 Mhz.
You should speak on hardware that you know about and let others debate the magic question! Win2K is crap and so is ME. Think about it, if ME & 2K were all that why would M$ be releasing .NET in 3 months?? Answer: MS wants money...money...money!! Intel has been screwing up for a good long time now and while I actually like the P4 it does have a few issues that are hard to get around. Too much money, software does not take advantage of it, RAMBUS memory is simply too expensive and finally the floating point is better with AMD. More than that the Motorla proc in the G4 simply put cleans the clock on all of the Intels & AMD's. If you look in most recording studios and video production labs you will see MAC's and Silicon Graphics work stations running Xenon Procs; SCSI160 and in the near future Itanium Procs. The P4 would be better if it used DDRAM and was $400.00 less!!! You might think that money grows on trees and for you it might!! For the rest of the world not jumping into the Intel/P4 game quickly would be the best stragity! You can buy 3 800Mhz. P-III PC's for the cost of one P4 machine.
Well going fast is cool but don't be a fool spending lots of money don't make you cool!

Don't bother with the P4's since AMD is still hitting the computer charts of the year... I have a AMD K7 Athlon 800mhz but soon will upgrade to a 1ghz so AMD RULES!! plus works super with ME faster loading and everything else

It's nice that you think MAC's suck. I really don't want the MAC/PC debate! As was stated above, MAC's are found more audio and video shops (also schools) than PC's. Regardless of sucking or not that is your narrow opinion being expressed. OS10 is Unix based and is ballistic. M$ will not really be able to touch it with .NET.. P4 procs. are ballistic too, yet with all of the hype to get every dollars worth from them we will have to update all of our machines again (just got done with that and I am not really pleased with WinME or 2K). Of course all of our apps are ported at the original Pentium and PII. I recall the 70 additional CATMI instructions and the processor serial number feature of the P-III; 70 instructions that do not a thing since no software uses them and the proc. # feature that we all remember to DISABLE when configuring our machines. If and when you read about the P4 and how it works you will see that in order to take advantage of it's chip architecture special code will have to be written into your applications. That means buying all new software (more money)!! Your present apps will still run as though you were running a P-III. Running a system at 800+Mhz with SCSI160 and PC133 SDRAM is still bottelnecked at the hard disk. SCSI160 is the highest throughput hard disk available yet the throughput of a P-III 500 is still faster than the HD. Gamers don't really care about much except fast video cards and low ping times. Fast processors render audio and video faster yet the people who use Sofimage and Maya usually do that on a SIG machine or a MAC. As to sucking or not; simply put; nither! Computers are like tools, a 1/2" wrench will not work in place of a 5/8" wrench! People who edit video in a business setting tend to be able to afford the best of the best. Movies like I'm sure you remember Terminator II were edited on SGI workstations and the sound was done on MAC's. Why would movie producers who could afford anything disagree with your SUCKING notion? I know the answer,"YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!" Look at the top industries out there. Addmakers, news papers, magizines, etc. use MAC's. Scientists and researchers use MAC's. When you say "MAC's SUCK!", you show your true "Intel"agence. To say it SUCKS and not qualify it with a reason is simply CRAP!!
I think that you SUCK. I'm sure I qualified the statement above!

if you dont have a p4 you cant say sh***t about a p4. im a p4 owner and i think and know that its blowing amd socks off. i had a amd athlon 1.13ghz and it sucked. it wasnt compatible with alot of hardware and just a plain out headache...since i got the p4 everything is runs very fast, better than i expected with no hang ups or anything. so get your facts right. and dont knock one till you get one.
