Hi,
I have the current settings in CMOS for
LPT port. This all worked well in Win98-SE.Win-ME and Par-port zip drive.
If I install my Iomeaga par-port zip drive, My system will freeze if I refresh the list
of devices in system devices or run add-new-hardware. I have the Zip hooked to par-port on the computer and a cannon bjc 4100 connected to zip drive. Using correct Iomega driver. Can anyone help?
Thanks!
Mark F.

Technically, Iomega doesn't actually support Win ME. The only supported iomega zip drives are the usb 100 and 250 ones.
I have asked and they have no plans on supporting ME with their zip drive. Although they say the iomege ware 2.5 or what ever it is works with ME, its not designed for it.
Hasseling Iomega about it just leads you to be placed on their no replys list, so I wouldn't bother going on at them about it.
You could try ditching the software (add / rem programs) and downloading the win 9x driver only from the web site. The driver only won't be trying to tell wndows what to do, just where to find what it needs.
Dont hold your breath over them releasing fully fledged drivers for it. They can't be bothered with good product management. Their buz drive only works on 98. No drivers released or planned for release for any other os

Hi, MCPT
Well, why dosn't that surprize me. I'm still wondering why Microsoft bothered to release ME. Should have just waited for the
2001 version. Then again, ($Cha-Ching$) is most likly the reason.
I will send one comment to Iomega and let it go at that.
Thanks for the reply!Mark F.

I had the same problem. Iomega and Microsoft do not address the problem although support for para Zip drives are in Win Me. Here's a solution I found on the "Unofficial Iomega" Web Site:
The newest Iomegaware (supposedly for Win Me) does not work.
Uninstall any attempt to install Iomega software. Uninstall the Iomega interface in the device manager under SCSI interfaces. Reboot. Go to the control panel and "add new hardware" search for new devices. Manually install the device from the "Other devices" category. It will be listed under Iomega. Pick the "Iomega Parallel Port Interface [3-8-2000]" Finish installation and reboot.
The drive should now work. It will not have the Iomega tools but at least it will function.

Good call!
Their is now a 5 mb d/l from iomega w the software for it, pretty useless for the "portable" drive, you need a zip drive to install the software!
