Hi. I have my Compaq 5UVME2 and I just restored it with the Compaq CD's and I wanted Me on another PC, so I burnt a disk of the c:\windows\options\cabs dir. so I can setup winME on my Packard bell, so I can use my Wireless adapter hats USb to transfer my Windows 2000 Pro. .iso file to set it up on my Packard bell. I tried 98A and after setup (first startup), it shows the deepblue screen for Finding Plug & Play and hardware, and the mouse freezes and u cant do nothing. I tried 6 times with 98 CD and the PB restore CD. I tried NT4 works, but doesnt work with my USB adapter, tried 95 no support for USB, tried XP too slow... I dont have 95B (only A) and my Network Adapter wont work with it anyway because not much USB support. Any Help with ME? Thanx... Nick
Ok I just tried ME again and it said It cannot verify the End User Licence Agreement. No cannot find it. Here are the CDs:
Windows XP Pro.- CD-ROM, Bought at BestBuy Windows 98 1st - CD-ROM, Came with currnt PB Windows 98 1st - CD-ROM, Bought from Amazon Windows 95 A - CD-ROM, Came with Older PB Windows NT 4 - CD-ROM, Bought long ago Windows 3.1 - CD-ROM, Came with old PB Windows 2K Pro - CD&ISO, I have made the ISO from my Win2K CD that is unusable due to too many scratches, that I bought. Windows ME -Burnt CD, From CPQ sys files
I currently have no PC with 2K, so I am getting CD-R's tommorrow, so I can burn the 2000 Professional Image. Thanx Nick
Your ME installation is tied to the Compaq and will not transfer to another PC by the method you are describing because it is an OEM installation and is only licensed to use on a single PC - the original one. You will have to buy an OS (or borrow a full copy of ME from someone :)
