i was wondering if anyone can help. right at the start up of my system a little message pops up after the "windows me" screen. the message reads, "wininit.exe missing unable to load." can this be affecting my graphics and how can i remove it. i am having a problem with my graphics on my moniter. it looks as if the moniter is not set on 256 colors because all my graphics even my desktop and internet look extremely generic. i believe it might be from that wininit.exe problem. any info would be greatlly appreciated. thanks.

You can restore wininit.exe by using MSConfig/General/Extract File...and follow the prompts.wininit.exe belongs in your Windows folder.
Alternatively wininit.exe is located in WIN_17.CAB in the Win Me cab set, either in the Win9x folder on your Win Me CD or if you only have an OEM recovery CD this cab file should be in either windows\options\cabs or windows\options\install folder.Double click the cab file, select wininit.exe and drag a new copy to your windows folder.
