Wininit.bak files

i have this file called WININIT.BAK in my WINDOWS folder, now i did some research on the net but all i got was "rename the folders before you can delete them" and some in german. what are these files??? there is a .bak, .ini, and other but i dont know for sure what they are. any idea?

Anything labeled ".bak" is a backup or duplicate. Wininit.bak is a duplicate of wininit.ini which is usually used to complete installs on reboot.

You can safely delete wininit.bak.

I routinely delete all *.bak files.
