If you have an nvidia based graphics card you need to get the 6.34 drivers to stop this problem

same exact problem here. I don't think it is an Nvidia problem I believe it is a SB Live! problem although I will check it out. The drivers on the Creative site are useless as they do not have WinMe drivers out yet and Win98 drivers don't work very well due to the change in access to DOS in WinMe. If anyone has any guidance please email ltl63@hotmail.com

I get the same problem which seems to only manifest itself after playing games and only then it only sometimes happens (i.e. WPE intermittently on shutdown)

It can't be a SBlive problem because I'm using an Aurreal Storm Platinum A3D card.

I never had this problem before with 98se.

Any solutions would be appreciated.

When shuting down the PC running Me with an antivirus product active I get a Windows Protection error. ScanDisk is then executed after a reset. If I disctivate the antivirus then all is OK. I made a new Me install on a fresh disk, added only the antivirus and shutdown the PC. All was OK. I then installed Netscape 4.7. Then I started having the Windows protection error problem when shuting down.
Is there a version of Netscape that runs on Me with an antivirus active?

Is it the combination of an antivirus and Netscape, or Windows Me and Netscape, or Windows Me and the antivirus?

I have this problem, and it just developed recently. I have Win 98 and a Radeon 3d card. It has nothing to do with those items. What I have found after researching on google, is that it is possibly a bad memory stick. Try replacing your memory sticks if you can

I also get the same exact error and it doesn't happen all of the time. I am running a creative video card with Windows ME.

That occasionaly happens when I quit the game No One Lives Forever on my system. Windows Me, DirectX 7a and 8, the newest drivers. The other hardware components're fine enough. Creative's TNT2Ultra and SoundBlasterLive, 256 RAM, 700 MHZ CPU, plenty of HDD spaces. Sure, sure, my machine's in the best conditions but this problem remains unresolved! Help us!

I had the same problem (using an Nvidia video card and a Creative sound card), but since I put in extra RAM (i now have 256 mb) it doesn't seem to happen anymore... but of course this shouldn't be necessary.

If you are running Norton Antivirus 2000 or Norton System Works 2000 under W-ME and play games while Norton is loaded in RAM, you will get this messages at boot or Shutdown.
