windows protection error. safe mode only

I had Linux and Lilo. deleted all partitions, restored mbr and created single dos partition with fdisk. formated it. now i am geting general protection error with any of these- win 95 or win98 installed. can start only in safe mode...I have Pavilion 7125, 133MHz, 1.5G, 32MB RAM... please help!

i assume you are tryingto run ME. go back to win98, ME will not run on a 133 let alone a 133 with only 32meg of ram.

I had the same trouble last week.
"...windows protection error , power off something about loading MSMINI... " thus, fail-safe mode only. After looking at the bootlog, it seems that it's about loading a mousedriver... but it still doesn't work... Now, I'm still looking for time to solve this, and I'm still running Linux...
my box is about celeron466/160MB and so your low amount of RAM may not be the cause of this.

Having the Protection Error too, but get it even after I skip the mouse driver, so I don't think that's it. I think it's the drivers/software for my Network Interface Card. Look for an update on the manufacturer's site.
