I really need a windows ME disk, but I can't find mine.
I found a great web site that step-by-step gives tips on resolving the network problem I have
But....i need to extract files from a Windows ME cd
I know it costs money, but it there any other way to acquire NETTRANS.INF and RPCLTC5.DLL ?

Mitchell,
Search your hard drive for these two cabs, PRECOPY1.CAB and NET3.CAB If they're present on your hard drive, you won't need the CD.
"NETTRANS.INF" is in the "PRECOPY1.CAB", and "RPCLTC5.DLL" is in the "NET3.CAB"
Some more useful info can be seen here.
(p.s. just use the folder the cabs are in, and extract them where you need them)

Also, would be a Very-Very good idea, to back the contents of the folder with those cabs in it up. Do it on removable media

Dear Mitchell Feinberg,
Also look in your Windows>Options>Install folder. The ME installation files will be there. Write it to a CD.
Thank you
sree

well I'm wondering if it really is possible making a windows ME cd from just cpoying the files in Windows>Options>Install folder???
casue that would pretty much fix all my problems wiht my computer sinsce I acan't format it casue I don't have the windows ME cd...
help plzzzzzzz!
my computer is fd by using windows ME..:

Dear tobb3,
That is true. I dont know other Win OS keeping full installation files on system.
But ME is keeping all files in Options>Install folder.Did you checked the folder?
I think it will be around 150-160 MB.
Write it to a CD, now you can install ME from it.
You can also check if it working. Click the Setup file in the folder, and it will begin the ME installation.sree

but is it then possible to make it an bootable cd, so I can install it from dos??
as u do with any other operating system when u have the cd..my computer is fd by using windows ME..:
