I installed the Beta version of Windows Media Player 9 and am running it in Win ME. I have a collection of Family Guy downloads that I love to watch, and now only 1/2 of them are still working? What is the deal? I tried reinstalling my codecs, but I keep getting the same error message...
"Cannot play the specified file (0XC00D1197)"
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dan,as you probably know a Beta version is installed at your own risk for testing purposes and is almost always full of errors IE the program vender is using your machine to find those errors.I quit installing Beta's a long time ago.

I've heard many reports of Windows Media Player 9 fouling things up. The first thing i would do is use system restore to roll back your system to a date before you installed Windows Media Player 9. (This is apparently also the only way to get rid of it)

Microsoft has a nasty habit of releasing things before they are ready so a BETA version of their media player is just par for the course.

Now the problem is I can't get rid of it. when I click on the old icon it comes up and wants to install 9 again. HELP!!!!! I even tried installing 7.1 again and the same thing happens..how can I get rid of this piece of junk short of reformating the HD.
