I have compaq presario 1700T with DVD and windows ME installed. While playing music CDs, the windows media player keeps stalling between the tracks and within the tracks also. Several times per day it shuts down with the following error messages: ERROR IN KERNEL32.DLL and ERROR IN WMPCD.DLL I called compaq support 3 times untill now and they were not able to resolve the problem. I called microsoft about that and they refused to talk with me or they reffered me to their pay per incident support. To pay $35 for Microsoft problem?... i dont think so Microsoft :) Regards Miro

Make sure you download the latest fixes for media player from the windows update page. If that doesn't work, try another media player. One probably is already on your machine and came with your sound card. I don't use media player as it is still buggy and I find it can't play various mp3s.

The real problems started after the automatic windows update downloaded and installed the latest fixes 10 days ago. Before it was just occasionally stalling. Now it is useless as CD player. I am using Winamp to play mp3 files and maximus CD player to play CDs. B.T.W the windows ME CD player shortcut is redirected to windows media player and it is useless. Regards Miro

To put it bluntly, Media Player 7 sucks. Download WinAmp or even better get MusicMatch Jukebox. MMJ works great.
