Reply: (edit)There's a few things you could try I guess... or at least this is what I would do:
1. Get rid of windows ME 'cause it's evil
2. Internet explorer could be updated, or a more recent version could be installed. You can also go to add/remove programs and roll it back.
3. Quick re-install of your OS.

The icon for your sound is here,start/settings/control panel/sounds and multimedia check the box "show volume control on taskbar" as for the 256 color problem maybe try updating your display drivers right click "my computer" /properties/device manager/display adapters/properties/drivers/update driver. Or go to your video cards web site and download the latest drivers. good luck! Snap

m.e is not evil.intel is.dont do the up grade to ie 6 or you will have problems.but ie5.5 with the service pack 2 works just fine.
and no i dont think you should reinstall your operateing system like that one poster says your problems are not that bad.

Reply: (edit)I guess each to their own. I run WindowsMe and IE 6.0 with never any major problems with either. Every person has likes and dislikes, don't put down something just because you've had problems with it.

Reply: (edit)ME is not evil,if you know how to run/use it,and IE 5.5 SP2 is much more reliable than IE6.Especially for ME users.

Reply: (edit)Did you just reinstall windows? Did you have a virus? WHy are all of these things all of a sudden MIA or wounded? Attempting to fix individual problems without an idea of whats going on will be impossible.
