Comment: Hello all, I have a problem with a Windows ME machine. When I boot the computer up everything checks fine, the ram, hard drive, etc...After the Windows ME screen loads up the screen goes black and all you can see is the mouse pointer. I hit ctr-alt-del and it brings up the task manager but nothing is running....it just stops there...I was wondering if it may be some type of corrupt file because I took the hard drive out and put it in another machine and it does the same thing. So that means there is no mother board, processor, or ram problem...I also did a Reinstall of the OS without formatting, and it still won't load Windows..I have also tried starting it up in Safe Mode, but the problem still persists...I have also taken the hard drive out and put it in another machine and scanned it for viruses but it came up with no viruses...Any help would be greatly appreciated....Thanks...

Reply: (edit)You have not lost the files on the HDD. Everything is still most likely there and a particular corrupt driver is halting the load of Windows. Try having a look at wwd's post on this topic http://computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/30687.html
